Dr. Josephine Meis (pronounced "Meece") is a Montana native, born and raised in the Elkhorn Mountains. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology with a Philosophy minor from Carroll College in Helena, MT. She received her DDS from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics. During her dental education, Dr. Meis did her Extramural rotations at Sisseton Indian Reservation in Sisseton, SD and Siouxland Community Health Center in Sioux City, IA.
Following her dental education, Dr. Meis decided to explore Wisconsin and began practicing in Appleton. Dr. Meis’s love for philosophy and compassion for her patients is why she went through Alliance of Therapy Dog’s training for her yellow Labrador/German Shorthair mix, Miss Ginny Jo. She hopes you will find Ginny Jo a great comfort and pleasure whether you have dental anxiety or not. Dr. Meis is also a member of Outagamie dental Society, American Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Meis is delighted to become a part of the Oak Grove Dentistry family. She practices many aspects of dentistry, but loves operative and prosthodontics. You may hear her laugh in the hallways before you meet her smiling face.
Dr. Meis and Dr. Van Ess met in Appleton and they quickly became fast friends with their old fashioned roots and love for music. In addition to joining Oak Grove Dentistry this past winter, Dr. Nicolas Van Ess and Dr. Meis got engaged and will marry in Dec 2018 in the Elkhorn’s of Montana. Dr. Meis will be taking her fiancé’s name, and Oak Grove Dentistry will have two Dr. Van Ess’s in the practice.
When not practicing dentistry, the two enjoy cooking, hiking, traveling and music as well as spending time with their families and Ginny Jo.
